TO ALL VITAL WINELANDS RUN PARTICIPANTS:
Thank you for entering and supporting the 2015 Vital Winelands Run. To make it a pleasant experience, we would like to bring a few matters to your attention regarding our race on 14 November 2015:
Ample parking is provided for at various venues in close proximity to the race venue. Security officials are on hand at the parking venues, who will endeavor to keep your vehicle as safe as possible. However, runners making use of these parking facilities must ensure that they do not leave any valuable items or personal belongings in their vehicles. Please also be aware that, should you park in areas other than those indicated by the parking marshals, you do so at your own risk, as no security will be present there.
There is also secure parking available for 80 vehicles at the Stellenbosch Agricultural Society, situated next to Eikestad Primary School, on the R44. This parking is being administered by the Society at a cost of R20 per vehicle. Enter from the R44. The gate will open at 4:30 am.
Parking marshals will be on hand to direct race participants to these parking venues. We ask that race participants please respect and obey these marshals. We request runners to plan to arrive early, as the roads leading into Stellenbosch and around the venue quickly get congested and may cause you to be late for your race. Please note that owners of vehicles parked illegally, will be held liable by local Traffic Officials.
Your co-operation in these matters will be greatly appreciated.
- Tog bags facilities/ Information centre
Tog bag facilities will be available on race day. Please note that while the organisers will take reasonable care of the bags, they will not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any loss or damage. Please do not leave money or other valuables in your bag.
This area will also serve as a race information centre. We will endeavor to deal with your enquiries here as far as possible.
The Vital Winelands Run is officially supporting the Modern Athlete’s # RunClean campaign. We are providing litter bins en route and at the finish area of the race, and appeal to all runners to make use of these bins, thereby supporting this important initiative. Please make use of the litter bins, or drop your water sachet in the road within 200 metres of the refreshment table. Do not throw your sachet into the grass verge along the road. Please, let us address the problem of littering at races together.
- Club gazebo’s
We encourage clubs to erect their gazebos on the sports field at Eikestad Primary School, thereby adding to the festivities on race day. We ask clubs, where possible to bring their gazebo’s on Friday afternoon. We have security personnel on site from 19h00 and the gates to the venue will be locked as from this time. There will be no access on Saturday morning for vehicles dropping off gazebo’s.
Please note that due to the fact that the school has installed irrigation on the sports field, no vehicles or trailers will be allowed onto the field. Care must also please be taken when inserting pegs into the ground. The areas where irrigation is present will however, be marked.
We trust that your race will go according to plan and that you will enjoy your run.
