Loss of sponsorship stops Big Walk
The Big Walk Trust, owners of the Cape Times Big Walk, have announced it will not be held for a second consecutive year due to lack of sponsorship.
“The primary objective of the Big Walk is to generate funds for charity. While the decision not to stage the event is sad, it is as a result of intense deliberations. The challenges we face in the current sponsorship market are experienced by many other evets as well,” said John Jacobs, chairman of the Big Walk Trust, which is run by Spartan Harriers and the Rotary Club.
Funds raised by the walk are distributed to a range of local charities.
“We would like to express a heartfelt thanks to our walkers and partners for their generous support over the years, and for your encouragement as we strive to stage it next year,” said Jacobs.
