PRESS RELEASE: Marloth Mountain Challenge moved to 27 September 2014
July 7, 2014

The inaugural 60.3km Marloth Mountain Challenge (MMC) has been moved from its date in August to Saturday, 27 September 2014. There are a number of contributing factors:
The initial date of the MMC, 9 August, was influenced by the timing of the Big Bee Festival that was scheduled to take place in Swellendam during this time. However, the Big Bee Festival has been cancelled, which allows us the opportunity to explore a more favourable time slot for this race. As the nature of the weather in Swellendam, especially on the mountain, has always been a concern, we believe this postponement makes the event not only safer, but also more appealing to runners.

Furthermore, this decision has the full support of Cape Nature, due to their concerns over recent flooding and subsequent erosion in the area.

Wildrunner accepts that this move will cause some inconvenience and will assist wherever possible with refunds and substitutions. We do however, believe that this postponement will contribute to a more enjoyable and safer race.
