| Dear Trail Runner,
Things are happening in the trail running community...Read on to find out more and give your valuable input!
As you may know, late last year the local trail community agreed that a voluntary group of trail runners (the exploration committee) will explore options for the formalisation of trail running. The sport is growing at a phenomenal rate, and a little bit of structure added to our activities would greatly benefit all - the parks, the event organisers, and of course the runners. In March of this year, the exploration committee reported back to the trail community and got the go-ahead to continue its efforts by drafting a proposed structure and constitution for a local trail running body. | MEDIA RELEASE
Make a big difference with small steps
“In Botswana, in a village called Ghanzi, a young boy was dragging himself to school. Using his hands to propel himself forward, his legs dragged behind, leaving a pattern in the sand. For someone coming across this strange pattern in the sand, it would’ve seemed like a massive snake passed that way. But the ‘snake’ was no snake at all. What it was, was a human deprived of mobility.” This is one of many images sketched by Craig Sieben, a hockey coach-turned-activist, who is transforming the fate of disabled children in Africa one step at a time.
Sieben is on a journey from South Africa to Egypt – through 14 countries - for a campaign called Walk4Wheels, which, with support from The Chaeli Campaign, is aiming to end the unnecessary suffering of disabled children on the continent.
